New folio site?
Its happening again.... thinking about my personal site.Things have setted down after the wedding so I have some spare "thinking" time.
Thoughts so far:
- One page site, leading to individual projects if they warrent them.
- Coda scroll with smooth up n down action
- Chuck in a few jQuery bells n wistles to impress those not in the know.
- Accordian navigation with fixed position on page
- Incorporate social bookmarking and track the results.
- Throw in a few toys like LastFM to proove I am a Uman bean
- Static background so type and image float
- Big ass type for heading etc
- Needs to be easily updatable and future proof (ugh!)
- curser keys control scroll
- have a link to this blog?
- Modal window popout things.
- 404 303 error pages
- build it into a wordpress site for super quick updating
- nice to have a "currently working on" widget
- a sprinkling of opace panels and png effects - might be too much??
- some kinda random background thungamy, taking from pool of background?
- use some pngs!
- will use this: AnythingSlider
I prototyped it a bit but the code is really messy and links are all over the place.
Work in progress.. as usual!

Credit where credit is due
Its a strange line of work we're in isnt it? A new client approaches you with an idea.. just an idea, nothing more, nothing less. You agree to take them and their idea on, you agree a fee and a time and you set to work. You think about the idea while you drive home, while you eat, and while you spend time with your friends. Its the last thing on your mind when you go to sleep and its the first thing on your mind when you wake up. You carry it with you everywhere, for a few weeks you share your life with it. You encourage it, add to it, help it grow. You put your heart, soul, blood, sweat AND tears in to it. It becomes more than it was, something you're proud of, a product of yourself, something that you really care about.. then.. when its ready, when you have done everthing you can for it, you hand it over to the client. And in return they give you a small bag of money.Thats the way it works, it was thier idea after all. You were just there to make it real, to breath life into it, make it work, make it look fantastic and that... thats all. No one will ever feel about it the way you did ever again.
Oh well, at least the bills get paid.

To blog or not
Recently I've spent a lot of time thinking about my new portfolio site, its been a long time since I did any self promotion and I need the exposure more than ever right now. I have been following various freelance forums and resouce sites which have been showcasing some really well designed sites and it seems that about 50% include the owners ramblings in the form of a blog. Its something that I've wanted to do for ages although I am concerned about a few things. I am worried that I'll not have the time to keep it upto date. Sometimes I will be getting things off my chest and it may sound negative. I didn't pay attention in english at school, art was my thing so it will enevitably be badly written and full of spelling errors.
Any hoo we will see how it goes.
